As a child, I looked forward to summer vacations on the Cape every year. It wasn't necessarily where we went, though I love that salty air, but it was about with whom I spent my time. My family would pack up and stay with an aunt and uncle and two cousins at their cabin in Wellfleet. Sometimes, my grandparents would come by as well. Each year we were a little older, but not much changed. It was comforting to see those same sights.
When I got the chance to do an extended family session at Onset Beach, I was thrilled! Everyone gathering together on summer vacation gave me a warm sense of nostalgia. I hope that when this lovely family looks over their images year after year, they have that same sense of nostalgia as well.

It is always a pleasure to photograph our good friends, Olivia and Charlotte! We had quite the rainy week but got some sun before Olivia was off on vacation with her dad! We headed over to Seekonk to get a nice mini session at the meadows, amongst the flowers. Here is Olivia, the soon-to-be third grader! She looks so grown up. I think that happens to third graders ... Charlotte loved the freedom of the meadow and was quite content to run...and run! She wasn't interested in stopping to smell the flowers with all the space around her. That two year old is on the go (and thought I was crazy to make her do otherwise)!
It's that special time of year. Spring means First Communion and Confirmation. I love seeing the children all dressed up; feeling special and proud.
Nick is such a sweet and polite young man. Not all boys like getting dressed in suits to have their pictures taken, but he was a champ! I had so much fun taking his portraits. I'll never forget how my oldest daughter looked over my shoulder at the computer screen, while I was retouching in Photoshop, and exclaimed, "Look at handsome Nick! He looks so grown up!" ..She is a big sap like her mom. In just a few years, he will be off to middle school and then high school, and will look back on these pictures and remember what it felt like to go through his first communion. (And his mom will be surprised at how young he looks!) |
