Glad to see you again, loyal blog readers! I'm back again with another session featuring the oh-so-charming Kenna Jaymes. Kenna’s parents, Kate and Brian, were lucky enough to win a milestone session for Kenna, who was about to turn 9 months old. I think I was pretty lucky, too. They are such a sweet family! Miss Kenna loves Mickey and Minnie- who helped Kenna smile during her session. She loves to sing so we played music and sang along during her session. Speaking of Kenna's mom, Kate did a fabulous job prepping her for this 9 month milestone session. She was very easy going, allowing me to help style the classic session. We got to use some new backdrops, props, and a couple outfits from my studio collection, as well as the adorable green outfit that Kenna brought with her. Kate and Brian even brought a balloon, which Kenna had loads of fun with! Anyway, I'll get straight to it. Check out pictures of little Kenna below: P.S. Becky and Jeff were excited when they found out Becky was expecting. From the moment little Ryan was born, his parents loved him and were in awe as new parents. Over time, Ryan has developed quite the personality. He likes to rest his hands behind his head when he is tired, just like his Auntie. His daycare calls him Grandpa for this very reason. He is also very social. His newest skill is waving at every person he passes. As Ryan was approaching one year old, his parents suddenly knew all the clichés were true: A year goes by so fast. In celebration of Ryan’s 1st birthday (and their first year as parents!), Becky scheduled a cake smash session with KM Photography. Having loved our work, Becky was happy to support her childhood friend’s business. Ryan had a good breakfast and was well rested; ready for his session! Like most one year olds, he didn’t sit still for long but we got great smiles from him during his traditional session. Then, during the cake smash, he sat and devoured the cake like an expert! His parents were nervous about whether he would cry too much or move too much, but said, “Kirsten was great with getting his attention and getting him to smile”. In the end, the Weeks’ family had a wonderful session that captured Ryan the Lion's personality at one. They have digital files to share with loved ones and the opportunity to purchase archival, legacy art that can be passed down to Ryan and his own children. Creating art is important to KM Photography and creating art for old friends is even more special!
It was a wonderful privilege to photograph Jessica and Justine, two sisters and new mothers. They had a special surprise in mind for their parents! I drove to Justine's beautiful home in Canton to capture this special time in their lives. I had met Jessica and her daughter just a month or so earlier for their newborn sessions, when Jessica mentioned wanting to do this session for their parents. I was excited to see that Little Miss was alert and becoming less of a newborn. It is wonderful to see that progression in such a short time. She is lucky to have a (slightly older)baby cousin to grow up with. Even Charlie, the beloved family dog, was ready to take a portrait.
Lately, the KM Photography blog theme is LOTS of photos! I have had so many great sessions recently and I want to share them all with you. This session was no different and very special for me. I got a chance to work with the Magic Hour Foundation and donate a full family session for the Laferriere family (Jess, Brian, and Averie), who came to visit me in my Attleboro studio. I want to share some of my favorites from their session. Jess admitted that she was a bit nervous about the session, but at the end she told me how much fun she had (YES!). I enjoyed meeting her and her family and seeing them interact. All three of them were so sweet and the love between them was apparent. I think you'll agree that their love and fun personalities show through their portraits! The Magic Hour Foundation is one that pairs those in the fight against cancer with photographers for charitable photo sessions. The families receive digital images from their sessions, as long a beautiful box containing their prints. When I first started my business, I looked for a foundation to donate my time. Volunteerism is a big part of my life. My grandmother was one of my best friends and role models. She was always volunteering her time, even while battling lung cancer, until she was too ill to continue. Because of that, the Magic Hour Foundation was a perfect fit. It is near to my heart to give the gift of portraits to families affected by cancer and allowing their legacy to continue for generations through portraits. Jessica is a wife, mother, former US Marine, and also studied to be a dental hygienist! She lives with her husband, Brian, and young daughter, Averie. In July 2016, at the age of 33, she was diagnosed with stage 2b invasive ductal carcinoma. She was also a brand new mother of a 9 month old at the time of her diagnosis. In September, just 4 days after Averie's 1st birthday , she went in to have her right breast removed. She completed 8 rounds of chemo on 1/31/17 and 33 rounds of radiation on 5/18/17! It’s been quite the year, but she is still alive and enjoying her life and family! She is truly a strong woman and a survivor.
Little Miss Emerson...what can I say...the girl has personality! At just 10 days new, she was the most alert and curious newborn I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. She was interesting in lifting her head to peer around. I think she is preparing to be on her toes as the fourth little girl in her family!
She fooled me with big yawns a few times, but she did eventually fall asleep when swaddled tight. I think she wanted to be part of the experience and not miss a thing! It was a pleasure to photograph Emerson and her family, here in my Attleboro, MA studio. I can't wait to see how her personality blooms as she grows! Please enjoy a sampling of her newborn gallery! |
