Becky and Jeff were excited when they found out Becky was expecting. From the moment little Ryan was born, his parents loved him and were in awe as new parents. Over time, Ryan has developed quite the personality. He likes to rest his hands behind his head when he is tired, just like his Auntie. His daycare calls him Grandpa for this very reason. He is also very social. His newest skill is waving at every person he passes. As Ryan was approaching one year old, his parents suddenly knew all the clichés were true: A year goes by so fast.
In celebration of Ryan’s 1st birthday (and their first year as parents!), Becky scheduled a cake smash session with KM Photography. Having loved our work, Becky was happy to support her childhood friend’s business. Ryan had a good breakfast and was well rested; ready for his session! Like most one year olds, he didn’t sit still for long but we got great smiles from him during his traditional session. Then, during the cake smash, he sat and devoured the cake like an expert! His parents were nervous about whether he would cry too much or move too much, but said, “Kirsten was great with getting his attention and getting him to smile”.
In the end, the Weeks’ family had a wonderful session that captured Ryan the Lion's personality at one. They have digital files to share with loved ones and the opportunity to purchase archival, legacy art that can be passed down to Ryan and his own children. Creating art is important to KM Photography and creating art for old friends is even more special!
It was a wonderful privilege to photograph Jessica and Justine, two sisters and new mothers. They had a special surprise in mind for their parents! I drove to Justine's beautiful home in Canton to capture this special time in their lives.
I had met Jessica and her daughter just a month or so earlier for their newborn sessions, when Jessica mentioned wanting to do this session for their parents. I was excited to see that Little Miss was alert and becoming less of a newborn. It is wonderful to see that progression in such a short time. She is lucky to have a (slightly older)baby cousin to grow up with.
Even Charlie, the beloved family dog, was ready to take a portrait.
Older newborns can be a challenge to photograph. They are just starting to explore the world with their hands and feet, they like to stay alert for longer periods, and they aren't as easily manipulated while asleep. So, while an older newborn session may not flow the same as a baby between 3-10 days old, they provide variety to the traditional newborn session.
William came to KM Photography at 7 weeks old. He was very happy to lay on the floor and look around. His curious eyes would light up as mom played with him on the floor. We even got some nice smiles! He wasn't thrilled about leaving Mom and Dad's arms while asleep...he knows just where he wants to be...but we eventually got him in a deep enough sleep to not realize he had left their arms. Here are some of our favorites from William's session.
Welcome to the world, little guy!
I am a photographer in Plainville, MA serving southeastern Massachusetts, RI, and southern NH. I have a deep passion for capturing memories. Each photograph freezes a moment in time so that it may never be forgotten. I hope to create legacies that tell stories for generations.
